Dr. Samuel Roll and Dr. Elizabeth Penland have spent decades evaluating children in a variety of settings including schools, detention centers, hospitals, social services agencies, and mental health centers.  They will use their combined expertise in presenting their own approaches in assessing children who present with complex diagnostic pictures. Several interesting cases will be discussed to demonstrate their use of gathering information from interviews, behavioral rating scales, and projective and objective psychological instruments.  There will  be  detailed explanations of  Dr. Roll's approach in conducting clinical interviews in custody evaluations. Dr. Roll will also present a video of his work in conducting an interview with a child whose father, a policeman, had just killed in the line of duty. There will also be a discussion of  assessing  children who have problems with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and impulse control disorders.  Dr. Penland will also discuss her  method of assessing children with chronic and anxiety using the modality of biofeedback and Heart Rate Variability. The importance of the relationship with the child and the psychology of the psychological evaluator will also be discussed
