Summary: The following articles though distinct in the nature of their information, look at the processes involved in acculturation and identity development and the unique changes that occur as a result of these processes.

The first article (see Zea, et.al., 2003) reviews the literature on the most frequently used self-report acculturation scales. The article then presents the development of a bilinear/multidimensional scale that incorporates the assessment of identity (an area where acculturation scales are lacking).

.

The second article (see Miville, et. al., 2005) is an empirical article exploring racial identity development of multiracial peoples. The article as well compares and contrasts biracial and multiracial development models to the racial identity development of these multiracial people

A third article (see Flores, et.al., 2004) looks at Mexican-American married couples with varying cultural identities and the impact that acculturation stress has on these couples.
